Minidoc movie ‘Surviving the curse’

Every year, an unknown number of children are abandoned to die in Guinea-Bissau. Some are left near the sea, others near termite nests.

It’s the Bissau-Guinean version of the ‘witchcraft children’ beliefs, that still persist in many African places.

In this movie I shot and edited in 2016, while writing on the subject, besides the central testimony of Binham, one of the music stars of Guinea-Bissau that escaped death, there are two other heart-breaking stories involving handicap young girls.
